Several months ago, Xiaomi announced its first wireless earphones, Mi AirDots. Now, the Chinese company’s sub-brand Redmi introduces another model dubbed Redmi AirDots for a half price of the Mi AirDots, RMB 99 (around Rs. 1,000). That is an even incredibly low price for a Bluetooth headphone, not to mention a truly wireless pair.
It appears that Redmi is not only focusing on making smartphone anymore. The pair was announced alongside the Redmi 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro in the Chinese market.
It seems like these a lot of similarities in terms of features and design between the Mi and Redmi AirDots, besides the black colour on the new one.
The new pair of earbuds feature 7.2mm drivers, a built-in Realtek 8763 chip and it connects over Bluetooth 5.0. It also comes with an integrated DPS for “environment noise reduction”. However, it is not confirmed whether that is true noise cancellation or just for calls.
It also comes with controls and is compatible with Google Assistant on Android phones and Siri on iPhone devices.
As for the battery, it is claimed to play music for 4 hours maximum while the included carrying case can extend the battery life to 12 hours. While the 300mAh cell in the carrying needs two hours to recharge, the handset takes around one and a half hours to fully charge. The weight for each bud is just 4.1 grams.
Redmi will start offering the Redmi AirDots in the Chinese market from 9 April. Consumers can grab one on the company’s official stores. It only comes in a single Black colour option. Therefore, if you are a fan of white colour, the Xiaomi AirDots Youth Edition is not a bad option, but you will have to pay twice the price of the Redmi offering.
