Realme just announced two new additions to its mobile portfolio in its home market China, called Realme X & X Lite. While the Realme X Lite is just a rebranded model of the Realme 3 Pro for the Chinese market, the Realme X is the first offering from the company to come with a pop-up camera as well as a 48MP main sensor. So what are the differences between the two phones that separate them apart? In our comparison, we will use the name Realme 3 Pro instead of the name Realme X Lite.

Realme X vs. Realme 3 Pro: Price

Realme X

The price of the Realme X is set at CNY 1,499 (around Rs. 15,100) for the base variant with 4GB RAM + 64GB of storage. The two higher variants with 6GB RAM + 64GB storage and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage are priced at CNY 1,599 (around Rs. 16,100), and CNY 1,799 (around Rs. 18,100), respectively. It has already been confirmed to make its debut in the Indian market soon.

On the other hand, the Realme 3 Pro is currently priced at Rs. 13,999 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage model while the option with 6GB RAM + 64GB storage costs Rs. 15,999. There is also a top-end model with 6GB of RAM + 128GB of storage that you can buy for Rs .17,999.

Realme X vs Realme 3 Pro: Design & Specifications

As mentioned, the Realme X is the first from the brand to feature a full-screen display thanks to the pop-up camera design. With that, the handset is totally different from its siblings. On the front, it sports a 6.5-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel covering 91.1 percent of the front. Meanwhile, the Realme 3 Pro packs a 6.3-inch IPS LCD panel with an FHD+ resolution and a water-drop notch on top. Its display has a 90.8 percent screen-to-body ratio which is just slightly behind the Realme X. However, consuming media on the Realme X might be much better than the Realme 3 Pro thanks to the full-screen display.

Realme 3 Pro

One thing that set the Realme X apart from other Realme devices is its 6th-gen on-screen fingerprint reader which is also the first from the brand. On the other hand, the Realme 3 Pro features a fingerprint reader mounted on the rear.

In terms of hardware specifications, both of the handsets are powered by a Snapdragon 710 chipset under the hood with HyperBoost 2.0, which Realme claims to enhance its gaming performance. Therefore, don’t expect a drastic difference in terms of performance between the two phones. However, the Realme X should still be slightly more powerful if you go for the 8GB of RAM + 128GB of storage model. There are also two more variants with 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 64GB storage.

Realme 3 Pro

In terms of camera, the Realme X sports a dual camera setup which is the same as the Realme 3 Pro. However, while the former features a 48MP main sensor with f/1.7 lens and a 5MP depth sensor with f/2.4 lens, the latter only has a 16MP camera with f/1.7 lens and a 5MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. On the front, the Realme 3 Pro has a better 25MP selfie camera compared to the 16MP pop-up selfie camera on the Realme X.

As for software, both of them ship with Oppo’s ColorOS 6.0 at launch which is based on Android 9.0 Pie. For battery, the Realme 3 Pro has a larger 4,045 mAh battery compared to the 3,765 mAh battery. Both of them are equipped with VOOC 3.0 fast charging solution.

Realme X vs. Realme 3 Pro: Verdict

The Realme X should be better than the Realme 3 Pro but not by a significant margin. The handset has a better display with a full-screen design, on-screen fingerprint scanner, and 48MP main sensor. However, the Realme 3 Pro is better in some aspects. For example, the Realme X has a smaller battery and also lower-resolution selfie camera.

Realme 3 Pro

Therefore, it is better to wait for the Indian pricing of the handset. If the price of the Realme X stays the same as its price in China, you better go for the Realme X.
