Realme C2 vs. Redmi 7: Which Is The Better Deal?

If you are looking for a new replacement for your phone with an Rs. 8,000 budget that can put out decent and consistent performance, there are some great choices for you. The notable candidates include the Redmi 7 and Realme C2, both of which were just recently launched in India. Considering these two phones are both great options in the price range, we want to do a comparison to help you figure out which phone fits you more.
Realme C2 vs. Xiaomi Redmi 7: Price & Availability

The Realme C2 has already come to the Indian market in late April at a price of Rs. 5,999 for the model with 2GB of RAM / 16GB of internal storage. The top-end variant with 3GB of RAM / 32GB of storage is priced at Rs. 7,999. The phone is set to be available for sale from 12 p.m on 15 May via Realme’s official website and Flipkart.
On the other hand, the Redmi 7 was announced in India two days after the Realme C2’s launch date. The handset is priced from Rs. 7,999 for the base variant with 2GB of RAM + 32GB of storage while the higher variant with 3GB of RAM + 32GB of storage will set you back by Rs. 8,999. It is already up for sale from 12 p.m on 29 April via Amazon India, Mi Stores, and Mi.com.
Realme C2 vs. Xiaomi Redmi 7: Specs & Features
The Realme C2 features a diamond-cut pattern on the rear which gives it a bit of premium look. There are also dual cameras on the rear along with a fingerprint sensor. On the other hand, the Redmi 7 comes packed with a fingerprint reader on the back and dual cameras as well. Up front, both phones have a water-drop notch housing a selfie camera.

While the Realme offering has a 6.1-inch screen with 1,560 x 720p resolution, the Redmi handset has a slightly larger 6.26-inch display with 1,520 x 720p resolution. Both phones also offer a headphone jack and a dedicated slot for the microSD card as well.

The Realme handset is powered by an Helio P22 SoC built on the 12nm process. Meanwhile, the Redmi 7 runs on the Snapdragon 632 SoC built on the 14nm process. On paper, the Snapdragon 632 SoC should help the Redmi 7 slightly ahead in this aspect.

As for software, both of the handset ship with the latest Android 9 Pie with their respective custom UIs on top. As usual, the MIUI 9 on the Redmi 7 also has ads embedded which is one major downside.

In terms of camera, the camera system of the Realme C2 comes with a 13MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP depth unit. On the front, there is a 5MP camera with HDR support for taking selfies and video calling. On the other hand, the Redmi handset comes with a 12MP primary shooter with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor. Handling selfie duties is an 8MP snapper with support for HDR as well. Both of the handsets come with a big 4,000 mAh battery.
Realme C2 vs. Xiaomi Redmi 7: Verdict
It seems like the Realme C2 and Redmi 7 are not so different after all. However, the Realme C2 is priced more aggressively compared to the Redmi offering. Even though the Redmi 7 is slightly ahead, you might need to consider whether you want to pay more money for those minor differences.
