Google Pixel 4a 5G: Everything That You Need To Know

In 2019, Google unveiled the Pixel 3a, a more affordable smartphone in its Pixel line. In August 2020, the company continued to launch the Pixel 4a, a little bit later than expected. Google has confirmed that Pixel 4a 5G will be released before this year ends. This is everything you need to know about the 5G smartphone.

Google announced the Pixel 4a on August 3. Consumers living in the US can start pre-order the smartphone on 3 August and purchase it from 20 August at $349. Meanwhile, UK consumers can pre-order the smartphone starting from 10 September and purchase it directly on 1 October.

The 5G version of the smartphone is confirmed to be released this fall, along with the Pixel 5 which will be 5G-enabled as well. In its blog post, Google stated that Pixel 4a 5G price is $499 for people living in the US. Google will also release the smartphone in Canada, Ireland, UK, Germany, France, Taiwan, Japan, and Australia.

The Pixel 4a is set to be launched in October in India. So we will have to wait a little bit further to know Pixel 4a 5G price in India.

Google hasn’t revealed any information regarding the Pixel 4a 5G release date yet. But typically, a “Made by Google” event occurs in early October.

The smartphone is expected to share with the Pixel 4a the same design. Leaks suggest that it will be bigger than the Pixel 5 while coming with a polycarbonate body with a colored power button.

We are expecting the Pixel 4a 5G to have very similar or even the same dimensions as the Pixel 4a. Although the weight might be different. The weight of the Pixel 4a is 143g while the Pixel 4a 5G could weigh a bit more.

Considering the two smartphones have the same design, the Pixel 4a 5G will have a pronounced square black camera on the rear. In the top left corner is a single camera lens accompanied by a flash. In the center is a physical fingerprint scanner. On the front, it is likely that the display will have a punch-hole camera and minimal bezels. It will probably have a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The color options still remain unclear. The Pixel 4a was reported to have three different colors: white with an orange button, black with a lime button, and teal with a hot pink button. At that time, there were also rumors that the phone would only come in Barely Blue and Just Black.

So far, Google only releases the Just Black option with the Pixel 4a. Maybe the 5G model will have more colors to offer?

The Pixel 4a 5G is expected to have the same display as the Pixel 4a. If this is true, the Pixel 4a 5G will have a 5.81-inch Full HD+ OLED panel. The bezels are slimmed down compared to its predecessor. And there will be a punch hold housing the front camera.

The Pixel 4a offers a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a 60Hz refresh rate. So the 5G model will probably follow suit.

Leads suggest that there is a chance that the Pixel 4a 5G will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 device. However, there hasn’t been much information about this version. So it is still unclear if this will really be the chipset used on the Pixel 4a 5G. We are expecting the smartphone to have at least 6GB RAM, 128GB internal storage as well as a 3140mAh battery like the non-5G version.

The Pixel 4a shares with the Pixel 4 the same camera. And that is exactly what Google wants to offer with these phones, to allow you to have those camera skills but a lower price point. The Pixel 4a 5G is expected to bring the same to the table.

So, it will probably have a 12.2MP camera with an f/1.7 lens. There will also be optical image stabilization and AI-powered features found on the Pixel 4 like Portrait Mode, Top Shot, and Night Sight wit astrophotography mode.

The front camera of the Pixel 4a 5G is likely to be an 8MP camera with an f/2.0 lens.
