At the beginning of April, OPPO joined the Snapdragon 855 trend and released the first device titled Reno 10x Zoom Edition featuring the SoC. The handset was introduced alongside a standard version named Oppo Reno. These two devices have been launched in China and shall enter the markets in European countries very soon. Reportedly, OPPO also aims to release the Reno smartphones in the Indian market before the end of June.
As stated by retailers, OPPO shall launch two versions of the Reno smartphone, powered by the Snapdragon 855 and Snapdragon 710 in India. Even though the specific release date is still not known, there's information that the company plans to release the smartphones in India in late June. Like Realme, the company will release the devices under the independent Reno brand. The version of Reno that is equipped with Snapdragon 855 chipset shall be the competitor of Vivo iQOO, the gaming smartphone featuring the Snapdragon 855 SoC. In particular, the Vivo iQOO was recently reported to enter India at the end of May or beginning of June. Additionally, a version of Reno 10x Zoom with 5G shall be launched in the second half of 2019, however, it is unclear whether Oppo will release that version in India for the time being.
As for the specifications, the Reno 10x Zoom is OPPO’s first product that features the 10x lossless camera that has been revealed at this year's MWC event. This camera technology can take photos with incredible accuracy and clarity, which is made possible by the 16mm-160mm focal length. The phone features three rear cameras including a 48-MP sensor, 13-MP Periscope, and 8-MP ultrawide shooter. As for selfie, this device is equipped with a 16MP selfie camera mounted on a leaf-shaped pop-up structure, which is called Shark Fin.
Up front, the Reno 10x Zoom features a 6.55″ AMOLED full-HD+ capacitive touchscreen, protected by Gorilla Glass 6, and has a screen-body ratio of 93.1 %. The device features an under-display fingerprint sensor. The phone also has a battery with the capacity of 4,065mAh and VOOC Flash Charge ability to support the Snapdragon 855 chipset. The handset is available in three versions with three RAM and memory specifications - 6GB + 128GB, 6GB + 256GB and 8GB + 256GB. The smartphone also has Android 9.0 (Pie), ColorOS 6, dual-band A-GPS, NFC, and Game Boost 2.0.
As for the Reno standard version, this device runs on Snapdragon 710 SoC and features a 6.4" OLED screen, with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, 19.5:9 ratio and is protected by the Gorilla Glass 6. The phone also comes in 3 variants, 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, 6GB RAM + 256GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. It features two rear cameras with a 48MP + 5MP sensor and a 16-MP front camera.
Currently, the 10x Zoom version of Reno is priced at 3956.11 CNY and the standard version OPPO Reno costs roughly 2894.72 CNY. The devices' prices in India have not been revealed yet.
