The Oppo R17 Pro, OnePlus 6T, Xiaomi Poco F1 and Samsung Galaxy A9 are in the same price range. But, which phone will stand out among four devices?

Oppo just launched its R17 Pro in the India market, and the handset features a triple camera setup at the rear along with an on-screen fingerprint scanner. The phone is launched in the mid-range premium flagship with a price of Rs. 45,999 for the 8GB of RAM/128GB of storage variant. It also sports an edge-to-edge notched display, and the latest Super VOOC fast-charging technology of Oppo.

Given the R17 Pro’s price, the handset will compete with other major competitors like OnePlus 6T and Samsung Galaxy A9 in the Indian market. It will also face competition from the Xiaomi Poco F1, which is currently set at a lower price, but feature similar specifications of mid-range handsets, including a dual camera set up on the rear and a Snapdragon 845 SoC.

So how does the latest Oppo R17 Pro compare to the Xiaomi Poco F1, OnePlus 6T, Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) in the features, specifications and price aspect? Let’s find out:

The new R17 Pro features a Snapdragon 710 10nm SoC with enhanced overall performance and AI camera features. It is the first phone in the world to come with a Snapdragon 710 SoC. And because of that, the Oppo handset is capable of delivering a smooth experience in daily tasks and multitasking.

The Oppo device is powered by a 3,700 mAh battery along with Super VOOC fast charging technology which is claimed to help users 50 percent charge their phone in just 12 minutes. The phone also has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, but it does not offer an option to expand storage.

Xiaomi Poco F1 and OnePlus 6T both come with a flagship SoC of Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 845 SoC that Qualcomm claims to be 25 to 30 percent faster than its predecessor. The OnePlus 6T comes in two variants which are 6/8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of storage. There is also a 3,700 mAh under the hood which is the same the Oppo R17 Pro, and it also has the fast charging technology of OnePlus called DashCharge.

The Poco F1 comes with the biggest battery of all four, at 4,000 mAh that can power the phone more than a day with medium to heavy phone usage, but unfortunately, it doesn’t support fast charging. The Xiaomi Poco F1 comes in two variants of 6/8GB RAM and 128/256GB of storage.

The Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) sports an older Snapdragon 660 SoC along with 6/8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. You can expand its storage up to 512GB via microSD slot. Even with an older chipset, the device is still capable of running snappy, fast and opening apps pretty quickly. The handset is powered by a 3,800 mAh battery, and it supports fast charging.

The Oppo handset features a 6.4-inch FullHD+ display with a 19:9 and 91.5 percent screen-to-body ratio. The device has a dewdrop style notch which is one of the smallest notch on all smartphones and also less intrusive as well. The screen is also protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 6.

Oppo uses a glass back design on its R17 Pro which they call “3D fog glass” that can reflect under different lighting conditions. The handset comes in two color options which are green and mist.

OnePlus 6T has a 6.2-inch FullHD+ AMOLED screen with Gorilla Glass 6 protection and a 19:9 aspect ratio. It also has a rectangular notch which is wider than the one in the R17 Pro’s display.
And it is also equipped with an on-screen fingerprint scanner.

For the design aspect, the OnePlus handset has a glass back design but not the gradient effect. It also has a classy design and feels premium. It is easy to hold on our hands, though it is recommended to use a cover to protect the glass back.

The Xiaomi Poco F1 is not similar to other smartphones in this list as it only comes with a plastic design, which may not feel as premium as others. Still, its Kevlar option has a pretty unique design. The Xiaomi handset only has the small display of all with 6.1 inches in size and FullHD+ resolution. The handset also has a similar notch with the OnePlus 6T, a rectangular notch.

Samsung Galaxy A9’s display is a bit smaller than the Oppo R17 Pro with 6.3 inches in size and Super AMOLED panel as well as no notch on its screen which is not common these days. So users can have an Infinity display and no notch. It still has a physical fingerprint scanner on the top.

In terms of display, the Samsung handset features a glass back with metal frames. And just like other phones with a glass back design, it feels premium as well. You will have a total of three gradient options for this Samsung phone, including black, blue and pick. Even with a 6.3-inch display, it still feels nice to hold the phone on hand.

In terms of display, the Samsung Galaxy A9 has an edge due to its Super AMOLED display. For the design aspect, it mostly depends on personal preferences, so there is no phone that stands out. However, if you like the gradient color design, you can go for the Oppo R17 Pro or the Galaxy A9. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Poco F1 feels not as premium as other due to its plastic back design, while the OnePlus 6T has a more classy feel.

The R17 Pro sports a triple camera setup on the back, including a primary 25MP sensor and a secondary 20MP sensor with a monochrome LED flash and a 25MP front-facing camera. Its primary sensor in the back supports dual aperture which enables the camera to adjust light settings automatically to enhance pictures.

Its third sensor features a TOF (Time of Flight) technology. The R17 Pro’s cameras offer very good quality and also detailed pictures. With the 25MP front-facing camera, users should also be able to take good selfies as well.

The Xiaomi Poco F1 has a 12MP f1.9 primary sensor at its back and a 5MP f2.0 secondary camera. Its camera can take good photos in both indoors and daylight. Its 20MP front-facing camera is capable of taking impressive photos on par with other major competitors.

Meanwhile, the OnePlus 6T sports a dual rear camera setup with 16MP and 20MP sensors and also EIS (electronic image stabilization) and OIS (optical image stabilization) on both sensors. Its camera can take good photos in low-light conditions and bright outdoors as well. Its color reproduction is also really natural and doesn’t feel over processed at all. You can also access to easy-to-use Pro mode. And don’t forget a 16MP selfie camera in the front.

Samsung Galaxy A9 has a quad camera system, including a 24MP primary sensor, 10MP telephoto sensor, an 8MP 120-degree wide-sensor, and a 5MP depth-sensing sensor. It offers a good camera performance but not really exceptional for its price. You can also take good selfies with a 24MP front-facing camera.

The 8GB RAM/128GB storage variant of the Oppo R17 Pro is set at Rs. 45,999. The device only comes in a single option.

The 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant of the OnePlus 6T is priced at Rs. 37,999 in the India market. A higher variant with 8GB/128GB storage is priced at Rs. 41,999, and the top-end 8GB RAM/256 storage variant costs Rs. 44,999.

The Xiaomi Poco F1 comes in a total of three variants. The price of 6GB RAM/64GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 20,999. The 6GB RAM/128GB storage and 8GB RAM/256GB storage options cost Rs. 23,999 and Rs. 28,999 respectively. A special Kevlar variant will cost you Rs. 29,999.

Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) costs Rs 36,990 for its 6GB RAM variant, while you have to pay Rs. 39,990 for the 8GB RAM option. Both of those options come with 128GB of storage.
