Invitations have been sent across India for the launch event of Oppo R17 Pro. The launch date is December 4, you can pre-order the phone from December 1. The phone was first released in China in August, and it was not until now that it came to India.
The Oppo R17’s back has a new Fog Gradient design, which includes Radiant Mist color options of Deep Blue, Emerald Green, and Purple. But we don’t know if the Blue and Purple options will be available in India.
While waiting another week for the phone to be launched, let’s review the phone specs.
The Oppo R17 Pro comes with a Full HD+ 6.4-inch AMOLED screen, resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and a screen-to-body ratio of 19:9. The phone has a Waterdrop-like notch on display, meaning the screen covers up to 91.5% of the phone’s front. The phone display is protected by the newest safety glass version, Corning Gorilla Glass 6. Plus, Oppo provided an in-display fingerprint scanner which is claimed to unlock the phone in 0.41 seconds.
Qualcomm powers the R17 Pro with its Snapdragon 710 SoC (Dual 2.2GHz Kryo 360 + Hexa 1.7GHz Kryo 360 CPUs) along with Adreno 616 GPU. Currently, the phone is sold around the world with only one variant of 128GB internal storage and 8GB of RAM. The phone runs on Android-8.1-based ColorOS 5.2.
In terms of cameras, the R17 Pro features dual rear camera and single selfie camera. The primary rear camera is 12MP, aperture switching between f/2.4 and f/1.5 based on light condition. The second one is a 20MP depth camera, particularly for portraits.
The phone offers Time of Flight 3D Sensing technology that uses nanosecond infrared light measurement to get highly precise 3D depth information. The technology is also useful for 3D facial recognition and AR applications.
The Oppo R17 Pro packs a battery of 3,700mAh with SuperVOOC Flash Charge technology which was first released earlier 2018 on the Find X Lamborghini Edition and later came to Oppo F9 Pro. According to Oppo, the technology allows filling 40% battery within 10 minutes.
In China, the phone sells at 4,299 yuan (Rs 44,051).
