Five months after the arrival of the OnePlus 8, we are now waiting for the next OnePlus flagship, the OnePlus 8T. We have got a lot of details about the phone as the launch date is getting closer. A few days ago, OnePlus has confirmed that the launch event will take place on 14 October, which is less than a month away.

So, what have we known about the OnePlus 8T so far?
OnePlus 8T: Release date
As you may know, OnePlus T models are usually released later in the year. Here is the launch date of the last three T models:
- OnePlus 5T — 16 November 2017
- OnePlus 6T — 1 November 2018
- OnePlus 7T — 26 September 2019
On 21 September, OnePlus officially confirmed that the OnePlus 8T launch event will take place online, starting at 10:00 AM EDT (7:30 PM in India) on 14 October. The brand did mention some sort of pop-up event, but details are still unknown. Rumor has it that there will only one model coming on October 14, so the OnePlus 8T Pro launch date is unavailable.
OnePlus 8T: Price
Price is a very important factor when users make their buying decision. At first, OnePlus attracted its users with attractive pricing, but the brand has been changing its pricing strategies. You can clearly see that OnePlus has increased its smartphones over the years:
- OnePlus 5T - Rs. 32,999 or $499 in the US
- OnePlus 6T - Rs. 37,999 or $549 in the US
- OnePlus 7T - Rs. 37,999 or $599 in the US

You can see that there is an increase in the price, which might suggest that OnePlus would do the same for the OnePlus 8T. Not just that, this time there will only be a single model. With the 8T being a better version of the OnePlus 8, its price should be between the OnePlus 8 ($699 or Rs. 41,999) and OnePlus 8 Pro ($899 or Rs. 54,999).
However, the handset has been allegedly listed on Amazon Germany. The listing showed that the handset would be priced at 599 Euro (around Rs. 52,000) for the base 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model and 699 EURO (around Rs. 60,200) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage option.
For now, we suggest you take these with a grain of salt and wait for more reliable sources.
OnePlus 8T: Will there be a Pro model?
In the last two years, OnePlus released two models in the T series, so many people expected to see OnePlus 8T and 8T Pro arriving this year. However, while we got OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro earlier in the year, the rumor mill is pretty confident that there will only be one model of the 8T launching in October. Not to mention, the brand’s marketing has also referenced the 8T only.

OnePlus 8T: Design
Early this month, we got to see the first render of the upcoming phone and it has a very similar look to OnePlus’ current flagships. However, the render only gives us the front design, showing a big screen with thin bezels, and a punch-hole at the top-left corner. Two weeks later, more renders emerged online, revealing both front and rear designs of the phone.

The OnePlus 8T’s back looks a lot like the Galaxy S20, including a rectangular module placed in the upper left corner with four cameras and an LED flash. In the render, the phone is shown with a stunning aqua/green color.

OnePlus 8T: Specifications & Features
OnePlus smartphones always come with flagship-grade specifications and that won’t change for the OnePlus 8T. Powering the phone will likely be a Snapdragon 865+ SoC under the hood, along with at least 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. There will be a 6.55-inch AMOLED panel on the front, featuring a 120Hz refresh rate.

We have also heard that the OnePlus 8T will come with four cameras at the back, including a 48MP main sensor alongside 16MP ultra-wide, 2MP portrait, and 5MP macro units. Despite having the same 48MP resolution, the main camera on the OnePlus 8T will have a new sensor for better camera quality.
Taking care of the software side of things should be OnePlus’ OxygenOS 11, which is based on Android 11. Even though OxygenOS doesn’t really have the best reviews from fans, it is still great to see the latest software on the 8T.
Today, OnePlus confirmed that its next OnePlus phone will come with the new 65W Warp Charge fast charging technology. This is currently the fastest charging technology from OnePlus and it is even twice as fast as the 30W charging solution on the OnePlus 8. This new charging tech will allow the OnePlus 8T to refill its 4,500 mAh battery in just 39 minutes.
OnePlus 8T: Worth buying?
The OnePlus 8T is a great option to replace your old phone. But if you are really in need of a new smartphone, the OnePlus 8 is not a bad choice either. Yes, the 8T is arriving in a few months maximum, but the OnePlus 8, in my opinion, is one of the best Android smartphones in 2020, so you won’t regret not waiting for the 8T.
Everything you need is available on the OnePlus 8. It gets a 6.55-inch AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate, powerful Snapdragon 865 SoC, 4,300 mAh battery, and triple rear cameras.
