The OnePlus 7 Pro is still affordable in comparison with other smartphones offering similar specs on the market, but it is the most expensive model from OnePlus, a company that never has anything surpassing the Rs. 41,000 price bar. Along with the OnePlus 7 Pro, the company also launches another model with a similar name omitting the Pro part.
So many people will ask if they should go for the latest model or the one before it, the OnePlus 6T. Here is a comparison to give you a clearer idea of which one is more suitable for your needs.
The OnePlus 6T Sets You Back Rs. 37,999 — Rs. 11,000 Less Than The OnePlus 7 Pro
First, let’s talk about the price of OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 6T. The latter was launched in 2018, and a lot has changed in one year. However, that is not such a bad thing for OnePlus smartphones.
OnePlus 6T is powered by Snapdragon 845, an older model of Snapdragon 855, the one OnePlus 7 Pro has. This might sound like a downer, but it is not. The 845 is from last year, but it is competent in every way. That coupled with Oxygen OS based on Android makes the OnePlus 6T a capable smartphone that not many others can beat.
The older OnePlus comes with 8 GB of RAM by default while the star of this year is equipped with 6 GB as standard. As RAM has a lot to do with the speed of your phone, we can clearly see which one is the winner here. With more RAM, your phone can keep apps running in the background, so when you return to them; you can pick up right where you left off. If the phone has less storage, it will have to reopen repeatedly, which takes a lot of time.
The OnePlus 6T Has A Great Camera, But It Doesn't Have As Many Options Like The OnePlus 7 Pro
The OnePlus 6T comes with a dual camera setup that has one lens dedicated to depth-sensing for a better portrait mode. This is not actually an appealing combination, but it offers good quality to the point that you may think Google had overstated when it said that Pixel 3 is the best camera phone in the world.
At this respect, the older model is no match for the OnePlus 7 Pro, which has a triple-lens arrangement. Each of these lenses has a more useful feature than depth-sensing. There are a 3X zoomed camera, an ultra-wide-angle camera, and a regular-angle camera. With this setup, the newer phone can do things OnePlus 6T is not capable of doing.
The Designs Of The OnePlus 6T And OnePlus 7 Pro Are Quite Similar
Both phones share the frosted-glass back so you may not detect much of a difference between them when it comes to design. However, OnePlus 7 Pro truly stands out with its Nebula Blue color.
The OnePlus 7 Pro Has A Bigger Screen
OnePlus 7 Pro has shown bigger phone makers how to offer users more without charging them a hefty price, and the display is one of the highlights.
The Android operating system might be the same, but when you use the 7 Pro, you will definitely feel something different. It seems like the animation is faster and smoother, giving away a feeling of using a premium and powerful smartphone.
Not many people really need this fast speed, but it does change the way people view the phone for the better. This feeling even makes some users said that the OnePlus 7 Pro seems to be more high-end than iPhone XS or Galaxy S10.
The curved screen edge is also a plus. It does not do anything specific other than making the smartphone looks modern. And the OnePlus 7 Pro sports this feature, just like more expensive phones you can get from Huawei and Samsung. A better look is not everything, but many people take that into consideration when they are on the market for a new phone or a second phone.
The OnePlus 6T has a quite subtle-looking notch in comparison with other smartphones on the same price bracket. But the newer model looks even better without the iPhone-like one or the cutout quintessential to a Samsung design.
If you want a phone that has a full screen for displaying content without the interruption of a notch, the OnePlus 7 Pro fits the bill.
On the other hand, the OnePlus 6T notch is not exactly big. It is waterdrop-like and is small enough to blend to the background, not exactly noticeable like the one you find on iPhones and other Android phones.
To achieve a no notch display, OnePlus has used a pop-up mechanism for the selfie camera. The company has promised extra features to keep it safe from breakage. It said that the phone could sense sudden movements like falling to retract the camera inside to protect it. A video even shows the camera being used to lift a cement block and came out intact. So basically, it appears when you want it to and pulls back inside when you have no use for it anymore.
In another test conducted to see of the camera retract fast enough before the phone hits the ground or not, OnePlus 7 Pro did not exactly perform as we expected. It did not go all the way inside but it did help the camera avoid being damaged. There has not been any accident reported of breakage, but we will wait and see if OnePlus claim is valid or not.
So, What'll It Be?
So there you have it, a comparison of OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 7 Pro. The latter may have better cameras and display but these are not crucial selling points for everyone, so it is up to you to decide what you like best, a solid smartphone or the one with excellent snappers and quicker speed.
Even if you go for the more expensive, the OnePlus 7 Pro, remember that at the end of the day, it is still cheaper than many other smartphones from more established names like Samsung or Apple.
