New Redmi Phone With Snapdragon 855 Chipset Not To Unveil Soon, Says Xiaomi VP

New Redmi smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 855 is unlikely to launch anytime soon, according to the latest Weibo post of Xiaomi VP.

Lu Weibing, Head and VP of the Redmi brand announced to unveil a flagship with a Snapdragon 855 chipset soon on Weibo last month. However, what makes people surprised is that in the latest post, he has requested people not to ask about this device, and said the launch is “too early”. Then he quickly noted, for now, he mainly focuses on shipping 10 million Redmi Note 7 and 7 Pro smartphones recently launched in the Chinese market.
The clarification concerning the Redmi device is pretty vague, creating confusion as to if the new device is ‘too early’ for the brand which is quite new to unveil another flagship powered by the Snapdragon 855 SoC or it is in the early phases to talk about. It is known that Snapdragon 855 is Qualcomm’s flagship SoC with 5G support.
For further information, Redmi has recently unveiled its Redmi 7 and Note 7 in China. As for the affordable Redmi 7, it sports a 6.26-inch HD+ display with dewdrop notch, an aspect ratio of 19:9, and a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protective layer. Also, the handset comes with the Snapdragon 632 SoC, and up to 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage, which can be expandable via a microSD slot. In terms of imaging department, the handset has two rear cameras including a 12MP sensor and a 2MP sensor with a LED flash. Additionally, it comes with an 8MP front-facing camera.
About the Note 7 Pro, this handset sports a 6.3-inch display with Full HD+ resolution, and a dewdrop notch. As for the performance, the handset comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chipset. Additionally, the device has a dual rear camera setup including a 48MP Sony IMX586 main sensor and a 5MP depth sensor. Also, it packs a 13MP front-facing camera. Powering the smartphone is a battery with a capacity of 4,000mAh, which supports the 18W quick charging technology.
