While many of us are waiting for the much anticipated Nokia 9 which most likely comes packed with a penta camera system, photos of a different upcoming Nokia smartphone were also just posted online. The photos, which were uploaded on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo, show an unknown Nokia handset with a thick chin, triple camera system on the rear and a notch-less screen.
The most recent phones made by HMD Global all come with a notch on their displays to accommodate the selfie camera and other sensors as well. However, the fresh photos posted on Weibo suggest that there will be a new Nokia phone with a notch-less display. A more interesting from the photos is that it seems like the phone doesn’t have a front camera as well. However, that is not enough information to assume that this phone will either have a pop-up camera similar to the one on the Oppo Find X and Vivo Nex; or the sliding mechanism on the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 and Honor Magic 2.

Furthermore, there is also no fingerprint on both the front and the back of this phone which may mean that HMD Global will opt for an on-screen fingerprint scanner on this unknown Nokia phone.
The photos also don’t show any ZEISS branding around this phone’s rear camera setup, hinting that HMD Global may use different lenses for the handset. Its front chin, which bears the Nokia branding, is pretty thick. Its side and top bezels appear to have the same thickness. On the back, there seems to be a vertically-stacked triple camera system at the center of the handset.
Besides the above photos, some previous reports also suggest that this upcoming handset would be powered by Qualcomm flagship, the Snapdragon 845 SoC and that may mean that the device might be a Nokia flagship. Now, we have all been expecting that HMD will start the next year with the release of Nokia 9 with the much anticipated penta camera setup. However, we might see a different flagship-level handset even before the Nokia 9. Obviously, this is just our speculation from just a few pieces of information. There should be more details coming as 2019 is only a few days away.
