Xiaomi recently launched its latest flagship, the Xiaomi Mi 11 with the most powerful Snapdragon 888 chip at the moment. With the new Mi 11, Xiaomi has followed Apple’s footsteps to not include a charger inside the box. Users when purchasing the device will only get the smartphone itself, a protective case, and the user manual.

However, at the launch event, Xiaomi announced that the company would give its GaN 55W charger to those who really need it. However, some users have used the 65W GaN fast charger that Xiaomi sold earlier to charge their Mi 11. And it seems like the 65W GaN fast charger has encountered some problems, causing many Mi 11s to go into continuous boot-loop.

Specifically, as soon as many users reported the problem with their Mi 11 while using the GaN 65W charger, Xiaomi also immediately confirmed this error. The company will soon release a software update to fix the problem. According to the company, the Mi 11 reboots when charging with the GaN 65W charger is due to a compatibility issue with current fast-charging standards.

At the moment, Xiaomi no longer sells the 65W GaN charger in the Chinese market because of concerns over possible hacking. Xiaomi uses the eFlash/MTP chip allowing overwriting the charger firmware with reading and writing data. Exploiting this, hackers can use custom firmware for bad purposes.
If you have a Xiaomi GaN 65W, don’t use it with your Mi 11. You can use the old 65W fast charger that comes with the Mi 10 Pro or the new 55W GaN charger instead.
