Meizu, a Chinese phone maker, had posted on Weibo that the company will reveal more information about the upcoming product on April 17. Now, the company has shared that it is planning to hold an event on 23 April, where it will unveil its flagship device, dubbed Meizu 16s. The handset is known as Meizu 16 successor, which was powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset last year. The poster of the launch shows that the flagship smartphone launch is expected to take place at 7:30 PM in the home market (5:00 PM IST).
This poster also comes with a caption saying “1% Selected/100% Efforts” that could mention about the smartphone design. The event is taking place in Zhuhai, a southern Guangdong-based city in China. The handset has got TENAA certification ahead of the launch. The TENAA listing also showed the device’s key specs and a 6.3-inch AMOLED screen. However, the screen is expected to feature Full HD+ resolution, not Quad HD+ resolution found in other high-end flagship devices.
Regarding the device’s specs, it is said to come with a Snapdragon 855 chipset, paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, which is expandable through a microSD slot. Additionally, it will have a dual camera setup on the back comprising of a 48MP OIS enabled primary sensor and a 20MP sensor. The device also comes with a 20MP front-facing camera for taking selfies.
The upcoming Meizu 16s smartphone is said to run Android 9.0 Pie at launch. It will be powered by a battery with a capacity of 3,600mAh and 24W quick charging support. The device comes after Meizu announced not to make Meizu Zero, a portless handset which is used to build hype for this brand. The 16s has been spotted on Antutu as well and will take on the likes of the OnePlus 7 that will be launched on 14 May.
