iPhone 9 (iPhone SE 2) Will Reportedly Launch By Apple In March This Year

According to a new report from Bloomberg, Apple's upcoming affordable iPhone will enter mass production next month. This is also the device often referred to by the rumors as iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 9.

With mass production starting next month, the device will be officially launched by Apple in "early March" with production orders shared between the three partners Foxconn,  Winstron, and Pegatron.

Besides revealing the launch date of this new device, the Bloomberg report also suggested several details about this affordable iPhone’s hardware configuration. Equipped with Touch ID in the Home button, the iPhone SE 2 / iPhone 9 is like an iPhone 8 with an Apple A13 processor at its core. That means it will likely use a 4.7-inch LCD screen and a single camera on the back.

Previous reports from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo showed that the iPhone SE 2 (iPhone 9) will start at around $399 (around Rs. 28,400), significantly cheaper than the $449 (around Rs. 31,900) price of the 64GB iPhone 8. If this price is true, the iPhone 9 with Apple A13 processor will be a worthwhile upgrade for users of old iPhone models.

That's also why Kuo predicts that this upcoming device will target current iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users who are unable to upgrade to iOS 13 this year. If Apple rolls out a device like the iPhone SE 2 with Apple A13, more iPhone users will be upgraded to iOS 13 and be able to access new Apple services like Apple TV + and Apple Arcade.

Separately, Apple is expected to release as many as four models in its next iPhone series called iPhone 12. The series is tipped to include iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Plus, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. These models will reportedly carry respectively 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch, 6.4-inch, and 6.7-inch displays.
