Recently, Japanese website Mac Otakara has shared a hands-on video of a model of the iPhone 13 (iPhone 2021). This model was created by a 3D printer, based on internal leaks. Although it is impossible to determine the reliability of this leak, it does show us some changes that seem quite reasonable.
The biggest change in the design of the iPhone 13 is that the screen has absolutely no defect, including notch or punch-hole. It's a full-screen display with an almost 100% screen-to-body ratio. That also means that the entire selfie camera cluster and TrueDepth sensor used for the Face ID feature is brought under the screen by Apple.
Mac Otakara said Apple could use Samsung's technology to do this. There is also a source saying that Apple will use Touch ID fingerprint sensor technology under the screen, and can replace Face ID. In fact, putting fingerprint sensors under the screen is much easier than bringing both the TrueDepth sensor cluster and camera below the screen. However, this information has not been verified.
The iPhone 13 model also shows that Apple will remove the lightning port and replace it with USB-C port. This is quite understandable, as recently reported that 11-inch iPad Air released in 2021 will also have a USB-C port. Perhaps Apple will want to use the same type of port on its devices.
At the back, the camera cluster of the iPhone 13 also changes. Although it's not clear, we can see 5 dots that locate inside the rectangular camera cluster. It is possible that the iPhone 13 will be equipped with up to 4 rear cameras, accompanied by a LiDAR sensor.
The Mac Otakara website also states that this iPhone 13 model was created based on information about the prototype leaked from an internal source. Therefore, the official design of the iPhone 13 may be different from this model. There is still a long way until we can see the iPhone 2021 since we are still waiting for the arrival of the iPhone 12 lineup. The iPhone 13 could be introduced at the end of next year.
