One week after Huawei released the new Huawei P40 series, its sub-brand Honor launched two new smartphones in the entry-level and mid-range segments. The mid-ranger is called Honor 30S and it comes with an aluminum design, premium glass, impressive specs, and also 5G connectivity thanks to Huawei’s new Kirin 820 5G SoC.
Honor 30S: Price & Availability
The phone is available for pre-order today while its official sales are slated for 7th April. Users can get the phone in three colorways, including Green, Blue, Black, and one more with gradient effect.
The Honor 30S price is CNY 2,399 (around Rs. 25,500) for the base 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. Meanwhile, the top-end 8GB RAM + 256GB storage will set you back by CNY 2,699 (around Rs. 28,700). Just like the Honor 9A, its launch in other markets is still unknown.
Honor 30S: Specifications & Features
The handset rocks a 6.5-inch IPS LCD display with Full-HD+ resolution and a small punch-hole at the upper left corner to house a 16MP selfie shooter. For security, it gets a fingerprint reader mounted on the power button on the right spine. To take care of the software side of things, it runs on Android 10-based Magic UI 3.1.1, and of course, Google Mobile Services is not available on this phone. Under the hood, there is a 4,000mAh battery that charges at 40W over a USB-C port.
Ticking at its core is Huawei’s new Kirin 820 5G SoC, which has four ARM-A76 cores and four 1.84GHz ARM-Cortex A55 cores. It is paired with a six-core Mali-G57 GPU and Kirin ISP 5.0 image signal processor that is said to offer advanced noise reduction and flagship-level performance. The device is available in two memory configurations, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage.
In terms of cameras, its square camera housing is where four camera lenses are placed. They are a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, 2MP portrait camera, and an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and 20x hybrid zoom.
