Here Is Why Huawei P30 & P30 Pro Are Inferior To iPhone XS Max & Galaxy S10+, According To Huawei

Here are all the comparisons that Huawei made between its P30 duo and the Galaxy S10+ as well as iPhone XS Max.

Every time Huawei launches a new phone, it often compares with rival products. This time was no exception, in the presentation of introducing the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro, the Chinese company continuously pulls two most popular smartphones on the market today are Samsung Galaxy S10+ and iPhone XS Max to put them on the scale.

In this article, let's go through the points that Huawei believes that its the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are superior to the competition.

In terms of design, Huawei bragged about the fact that its the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro have thinner left / right edges and the upper border in comparison with the iPhone XR and iPhone XS Max.

1

With the same screen size of 6.1 inches (P30 with iPhone XR) and 6.5 inches (P30 Pro with iPhone XS Max), both Huawei offerings have a smaller size, making it feel more comfortable to hold.

2

Not only that, the P30 and P30 Pro are lighter but have a larger battery capacity. Huawei emphasized that its large model, the P30 Pro, is even lighter than Apple's small model (iPhone XR), while the smaller model, the P30, has a 3,650mAh battery that is bigger than the rival's large model (iPhone XS Max - 3,174mAh).

3

Huawei also emphasized that the battery life of the P30 and P30 Pro is 11% longer than the Galaxy S10+ and 37% compared to the iPhone XS Max.

4

The 40W SuperCharge charging technology is also significantly faster than the competition. After 30 minutes, the P30 Pro could charge 2,940 out of 4,200mAh. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S10+ only reached 1,599 out of 4,100mAh, and iPhone XS Max only managed to crawl to 540 out of 3174mAh. According to Huawei, the P30 Pro charges 440% faster than the iPhone XS Max.

5

Not only wired charging, but the P30 Pro's wireless charging is also 70% faster than the iPhone XS Max. Even the P30 Pro's wireless charging speed is faster than iPhone XS Max’s wired charging speed.

6

As for performance, Huawei said the Huawei P30’s app startup time is 1,100ms faster than the iPhone XS Max.

7

P30's ability to support 2 SIMs is also better. At the same time, users can use SIM 1 to make VoLTE (Voice over LTE) calls and SIM 2 to access 4G network; or SIM 1 to make a VoLTE call and SIM 2 to receive calls without failing. This is what iPhone XS Max and Galaxy S10+ can't do.

8

However, the part that Huawei compared the most is photography. Well, the ability to take photos is also a feature that Huawei is most focused on this new series.

The image sensor of the P30 and P30 Pro uses the RYYB (Red-Yellow-Yellow-Blue) structure with a yellow pixel instead of the traditional RGBG (Red-Green-Blue-Green) like on the iPhone XS Max and Galaxy S10+. In addition, the sensors on the Huawei P30 duo also have much larger size and resolution.

9

The maximum sensitivity to light (ISO) is also increased to 204,800 (P30) and 409,600 (P30 Pro). Huawei said this ISO is significantly higher than the Galaxy S10+ and iPhone XS Max (only below 6400), and even higher than the professional camera (Canon 5D Mark IV with 102,400).

10

To illustrate, Huawei continuously showed quality comparisons between P30 Pro, iPhone XS Max, and Galaxy S10+. To emphasize low-light shooting capabilities, Huawei selected the dark backgrounds to compare, and rival smartphones can only produce "black" pictures, while the P30 Pro still offered detailed photos.

With periscope and super telephoto lens, zooming is a strength of the P30 Pro. The device has 5X optical zoom and 50X digital zoom, while both Galaxy S10+ and iPhone XS Max only reach 2X and 10X respectively.

Huawei even uses P30 Pro to capture ... the moon. For iPhone XS Max and Galaxy S10+, what users get is a blip on a black background.

22

Not only the telephoto, the P30 Pro also has better macro capabilities. Specifically, the minimum distance from the object that the P30 Pro can capture is only 2.5cm, shorter than the iPhone XS Max (6.5cm) and Galaxy S10+ (6cm).

24

The ToF camera makes the P30 Pro able to capture better portraits. In the image below, it can be seen that the flying hairs in the wind of the model are more accurately captured by the P30 Pro in comparison with the iPhone XS Max and Galaxy S10+.

25

Camera with a super wide-angle lens is also an advantage of the P30 Pro compared to iPhone XS Max. Because Galaxy S10+ also has this feature, Huawei didn't include it in this comparison.

26

Not only did the photo capabilities, the Huawei P30 Pro's ability to shoot movies in low-light conditions was also confirmed by Huawei to be better than the iPhone XS Max and Galaxy S10+.

27

And to sum up the comparison, Huawei "showed off" that the Huawei P30 Pro reaches 112 DxOMark points, which is also the highest at the moment and ahead of its competitors (S10 + reached 109 points, iPhone XS Max reached 105 points).
