WinFuture has just revealed almost all the specifications, design, and price of Google’s next flagship, Pixel 5. As previously known, this year Google will no longer use the high-end Snapdragon 8xx chipset for its Pixel smartphones. Instead, Google Pixel 5 will feature a Snapdragon 7xx chipset.
The Pixel 5 will be a high-end mid-range smartphone, instead of a flagship like last year's Pixel 4. Google will likely equip the Pixel 5 with a 6-inch OLED screen, featuring Full-HD+ resolution, and a 90Hz refresh rate. Surprisingly, the fingerprint reader on this phone won’t be hidden under the display, instead, will be mounted on the rear. We don’t understand this decision from Google since the Pixel 5 will have an OLED display and most of the smartphone makers have switched to using under-display sensors on their mid-range and flagship devices.
Google Pixel 5 will be powered by the Snapdragon 765G processor. Even though it is not as powerful as the Snapdragon 865, but will also support 5G technology. The handset will come with 8GB of RAM and at least 128GB storage on the base option.
Around the back, it will get two cameras, one of which will be a 12.2MP primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture, DPAF, 1.4um pixel size, OIS, and EIS. The camera is said to have a 77-degree viewing angle. The other one is a 16MP unit with f/2.2 aperture, 1.0um pixel size, and a 107-degree viewing angle. There will only one selfie camera in the front punch-hole, with 8MP resolution, f/2.0 aperture, 83-degree viewing angle, and 1.12um pixel size. The primary camera is capable of recording 4K video at 60fps, 1080p video at 240fps, while the selfie camera can capture 1080p video at 30fps.
The battery capacity of the Pixel 5 will be 4,080 mAh battery, which is a massive upgrade over the 2,800 mAh unit of the Pixel 4. However, it will still only support 18W fast charging technology along with wireless and reverse wireless charging. You won’t have two SIM slots on this phone, but dual-SIM functionality can still be achieved via eSIM.
The handset will be IP68 certified for water and dust resistance and its frame is said to be made of 100% recycled aluminum. Being a Google smartphone, it will ship with the latest Android 11 and wired headphones in several markets. The device will reportedly come in Black and Green color options.
The price of the Pixel 5 is also revealed and is quite attractive. The Pixel 5's German retail price is 629 EUR (around Rs. 54,000). Price in the US will probably be lower, should start at about 630 USD (around Rs. 46,200). Last year, the Pixel 4 cost up to $799, so the price of the Pixel 5 has dropped significantly, however, that is reasonable drop if you take into account Google's decision to use the mid-range chipset.
Google is expected to launch the Pixel 5 on September 30. In addition, Google will also launch the Pixel 4a 5G smartphone. This year there won't be a Pixel XL version like every year.
