The Groupe Spéciale Mobile Association (GSMA) has announced the winners of the 2019 Global Mobility of Employees (GLOMO) Awards at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The awards cover many aspects of the mobile industry. Let’s take a look at some winners of the 2019 GLOMO Awards.
Regarding the best smartphone category, the judges’ choice was Huawei's flagship launched last year, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.
Featuring the state-of-the-art technologies of Huawei, Mate 20 Pro is powered by Kirin 980, the world’s first 7nm AI SoC. Also, it comes with a 4,000mAh battery with support for the 40W Huawei SuperCharge fast charging solution and the Reverse Wireless Charging to charge other devices wirelessly. Regarding the optics, the flagship sports a Leica triple rear camera setup including a 40MP wide-angle shooter, a 20MP ultra-wide angle shooter, and an 8MP telephoto shooter. On the front, the device has a 24MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture.
Google earned a “Disruptive Device Innovation” award for Google Night Sight on the Google Pixel 3/3 XL.
Night Sight is a shooting mode on the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL to capture quality photos in the low-light conditions. It also leverages HDR+ technology to boost colors and brightness for photos captured in the dark. Additionally, Google adds advanced algorithms to control white balance as the auto mode of white balance is actually tough at night and when using various frames. Google also features Night Sight for the selfie camera as well. Generally, thanks to the Night Sight mode, the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL can take impressive photos in any lighting situations.
Independently, some of other GLOMO award winners are Epic Games, an American video game and software development company, winning the “Best Overall Mobile Consumer Innovation” award for the Fortnite Franchise, and Samsung with the “Best Wearable Mobile Technology” award for the Galaxy Watch.
