Galaxy Note 20 launch date

Over the past few months, there have been a lot of rumors around Samsung’s next Galaxy Note smartphones, including the launch time. As confirmed by the company, the Unpack event will take place at 10 AM ET, August 5, meaning about 7:30 PM in India.

But there’s more, according to a tweet by Jon Prosser, the official launch date of the phone will likely fall on August 20. It’s Samsung’s strategy to hold its annual unveiling event in August, as it’s before Apple’s fall launch event and early enough for Samsung to prepare for the holiday season. This year, Apple may have delayed its September event and might launch the iPhone 12 in October due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Samsung Unpacked event trailer and hands-on video leak

Just days before the official event, Samsung released a teaser on its Mobile Press website. The teaser trailer, which lasts for 30 seconds, offers a glance at the batch of products to be unveiled on August 5, seemingly including the Note 20.

Early last month, on July 8, Jimmy Is Promo posted a short video showing a device that could be the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The clip displayed a large-display device in black, featuring squared corners along with a big camera module, which is in line with previous leaks. The video also showed an S-Pen stylus, the unique accessories that set the Note series from other Samsung devices.

  • The speaker grille and S-Pen may be shifted to the left side.
  • A large camera module on the top-left corner of the back panel with much bigger lenses than those on the Note 10.

Galaxy Note 20 specs

As of now, we have learned a few things about the specifications of the Galaxy Note 20 lineup, and here’s all we know so far.

First of all, the latest rumors say that there will be two Note 20 devices, including the standard Note 20 and the bigger Note 20 Ultra.

In terms of the Galaxy Note 20, it will come with a 6.42-inch display with a resolution of 2345x1084 pixels and a refresh rate of 60Hz. The smartphone may be powered by the latest Snapdragon 865+ or Exynos 990 processor, both of which are among the most powerful chipsets currently available for phones. Besides, the Note 20 may feature 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

There may be triple lenses on the rear, including a 12MP main camera, a 64MP telephoto camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a TOF sensor. It will support 5G connectivity and pack a 4,170mAh or 4,300mAh battery.

As for the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, it may sport a 6.87-inch display with a resolution of 3096x1444 pixels, and a refresh rate of 120Hz. Furthermore, the device will likely pack the Snapdragon 865+ or the Exynos 990 processor. It may also feature 12GB of RAM and internal storage of 256GB or 512GB. In terms of cameras, there is a 108MP mail lens, a 13MP telephoto lens, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a laser focus sensor on the back. The handset may come with a 4,500mAh or a 5,000mAh battery. It will also support 5G connectivity.

Galaxy Note 20 price

As of August 2, the price of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 was expected to be 999 euros, which means the Galaxy Note 20 price in India will likely be around Rs 88,182. Meanwhile, the price of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is predicted to be 1,349 euros, equivalent to Rs 119,077.

Other rumors

In the specification section, we didn’t mention the front-facing camera of the two phones. It’s implied in a tweet by Ice universe that the Note 20 lineup may house under-display cameras. If this is true, the sensor would be invisible most of the time and only appear when you use the camera app, for example.

More about the cameras, there’s one question around 100x zoom. Samsung announced Space Zoom, the Ai-assisted 100x zoom for the Galaxy S20 Ultra, which seems to be exclusively for the S20 lineup devices. But we expect the Galaxy Note 20 devices will have this feature too.

When it comes to the operating system, it’s most likely that the Note 20 devices will run on Android 10 out of the box and will be able to upgrade to Android 11 as soon as the OS is ready.

On July 10, Twitter leaker Evan Blass posted on his account, suggesting that the smartphones will come in Mystic Bronze, the color that we see in the invite for the upcoming Unpacked event.
