It will still be powered by the same Exynos 7904 SoC as the Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M30, but ship with Android 9 Pie instead of Android 8.1 Oreo.

The next phone in the Samsung Galaxy M series has just appeared on the benchmarking site Geekbench. The listing on the website reveals some details about the Galaxy M40. The handset also passed some key certifications which suggests that the phone will launch soon. It is listed to come with a mid-range Snapdragon 675 SoC.
Even though the Snapdragon 675 SoC might not be as powerful as the Samsung-made Exynos 9610 SoC, but it is still pretty impressive given the fact that the Galaxy M smartphones are launched with aggressive pricing. The Snapdragon 675 SoC is also a major improvement over Samsung’s Exynos 7904 SoC that is powering the Galaxy M30 and Galaxy M20. Apart from the Snapdragon 675, the handset is also listed to pack 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage as previously leaked. As per the listing, it scores 2,361 and 6,438 points in the single and multi-core tests.
Moreover, the handset will be the first phone in the Galaxy M series to ship with the latest Android 9 Pie at launch with Samsung’s UI on top. These are all details that are revealed from the Geekbench listing. However, we believe that the Galaxy M40 will come with the same massive 5,000 mAh battery as its siblings Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M30. Moreover, it might also come with support for 25W Super fast charging like what we have seen on the Samsung Galaxy A70. However, these are just our speculations, so let’s wait for more details to show up.
To recall, the latest in the series, Galaxy M30, was launched in May. The handset sports a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED panel with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Powering the handset is an Exynos 7904 SoC paired with 4/6GB of RAM and 64/128GB of storage which can be further expanded up to 512GB using a microSD card. For software, it ships with the dated Android 8.1 Oreo as mentioned above. In terms of camera, it has a triple 13MP + 5MP + 5MP cameras on the rear and a 16MP selfie camera on the front. Lastly, it is powered by a massive 5,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging support.
