The Samsung Galaxy A70 is one of the latest additions to the revamped Galaxy A series by Samsung, and it is set to be available for sale in the Indian market pretty soon. The phone is launched in the upper mid-range segment with an on-screen fingerprint scanner. In the price range, we believe that two of its biggest threats are the Vivo V15 Pro and Poco F1.
The Vivo V15 Pro not only a fingerprint scanner, but it also has a notch-free and full-screen display thanks to the pop-up selfie camera. While the Poco F1 may not have those fancy features, the phone offers a very powerful performance that can even reach the flagship level. So, let’s go deeper and find out what is the best choice between the Galaxy A70, Poco F1, and Vivo V15 Pro.
Galaxy A70 vs. POCO F1 vs. Vivo V15 Pro: Price
Both of the Vivo V15 Pro and Galaxy A70 are priced at Rs. 28,990 for the option with 6GB of RAM /128GB of storage. The Poco F1 is priced much lower at Rs. 19,999 and Rs. 21,999 for the variants with 64GB and 128GB storage variant, respectively. For the same price of Rs. 28,990, you can get a Poco F1 with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
In this aspect, the Poco F1 dominates with a much better memory configuration for the same price range.
Galaxy A70 vs. POCO F1 vs. Vivo V15 Pro: Build & Design
Again, both of the Samsung and Vivo offerings come with the new on-screen fingerprint scanners. Even though the technology is pretty new and fancy as well, we find the physical one on the Poco F1 is more reliable and faster as well.
That being said, the Vivo V15 Pro is also equipped with a very innovative feature which is the pop-up camera on the front. Not just that, the phone also has a very attractive look thanks to the gradient design on its back. The Galaxy A70 is also great with a glossy plastic back panel. Meanwhile, the Poco F1 is not really that great if we take design into consideration. It just has a plastic body or a carbon fiber rear panel if you want to pay more for the Armoured Edition.
While Vivo V15 Pro and Galaxy A70 are pretty even in design as it has to come down to personal preference, the Poco F1 is miles behind the two in terms of design.
Galaxy A70 vs. POCO F1 vs. Vivo V15 Pro: Display, Performance & Software
As mentioned, thanks to the pop-up camera, the Vivo offering comes with a full-screen 6.39-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel with minimal bezels. The Galaxy A70 sports a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel with a common water-drop notch on top. Lastly, this is again a weak side of the Poco F1 as it has a 6.18-inch FHD+ LCD panel with a conventional notch and a thick chin at the bottom.
This is clearly the fight between Vivo V15 Pro and Galaxy A70 when it comes to the display. While the Vivo offering has a full-screen display which is nicer to look at, the Galaxy A70 packs a large screen which can be great for media consumption.
Moving to performance, this is where the Poco F1 really shines with its flagship-level set of specifications. The Snapdragon 675 SoC on both of the Vivo V15 Pro and Galaxy A70 is very powerful in the mid-range segment, but it is nowhere to be close to what the Snapdragon 845 used on the Poco F1 is capable of. This is a clear win for the Xiaomi offering.
In terms of software, all handsets have the latest Android 9 Pie. However, Poco F1 buyers need to update its software as the phone ships with Android 8.0 Oreo at launch. They also have their respective custom UIs from their companies. There isn’t a clear winner, but the Poco F1 is slightly worse as the Xiaomi’s MIUI has been receiving quite a few negative feedback due to the intrusive ads.
Galaxy A70 vs. POCO F1 vs. Vivo V15 Pro: Camera & Battery
The Galaxy A70 sports a triple camera system, comprising of a 32MP main sensor with f/1.7 aperture, a secondary 8MP ultra-wide lens with an aperture of f/2.2, and a 5MP depth sensor with an aperture of f/2.2. Up front, it comes with a 32MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture for taking selfies and video calling.
It seems like the Vivo V15 Pro is above the competition in terms of camera. It sports a triple camera setup on the rear, including a 48MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP secondary sensor with f/2.4 aperture, and a 5MP third sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The rear camera setup is also backed with some other features, including Ultra HD, Time-Lapse Photography, Bokeh, Camera Filter, AR Stickers, AI Face Beauty, Professional, and even more.
The Poco F1 has the worst cameras out of the three phones. There is a dual cameras setup at the back, including a 12MP Sony IMX363 main sensor with dual-pixel autofocus, a 1.4µm pixel size, and a 5MP sensor. The device also has a 20MP selfie camera with AI Beauty Features and HDR. If you want a good camera phone, just skip the Poco F1 right away.
he Samsung Galaxy A70 is the best when it comes to battery. The phone packs a massive 4,500mAh battery with 25W fast charging support and a USB-C port. The Poco F1 has a slightly smaller battery with a capacity of 4,000mAh, 18W fast charging support, and USB-C port as well. The Vivo V15 Pro is slightly behind with a 3,700mAah cell and 18W fast charging support. However, for some reason, Oppo decides to equip it with a dated micro-USB port instead of using the newer USB-C port.
Galaxy A70 vs. POCO F1 vs. Vivo V15 Pro: Verdict
If you want the most powerful phone possible in the sub-Rs. 30,000 price range, there is no other option that can be better than the Poco F1. However, if you also need a decent camera setup to work with, I would recommend either the Vivo V15 Pro or Galaxy A70. The Vivo offering is a great choice with its on-screen fingerprint scanner, pop-up selfie camera, and a stunning design as well. The same goes for the Galaxy A70 as it not only has a triple camera setup and an impressive display but also comes with the largest battery of the three.
