Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun: Xiaomi Could Raise Its Smartphone Prices

The prices of Xiaomi smartphones have recently become the standards for other companies to adjust their smartphone prices to match the Chinese phone maker. And now, it seems that the company wants to change its policy in the company. Lei Jun, Co-Founder, and CEO of Xiaomi has announced that Xiaomi is planning to launch smartphones with higher prices in the future. It is known that Xiaomi almost serves the demands for the affordable smartphone sector in the market.

Lei Jun said that the company is tending to get rid of that reputation and will make smartphones with higher prices in the coming time, reported Technode. Xiaomi wants to shed its famous image for manufacturing affordable phones with prices of less than CNY2,000 (roughly Rs. 20,800) and aims to invest more and create better devices. It is probably the last time Xiaomi makes products with prices of less than CNY3,000 (roughly Rs. 31,000). It is expected that Xiaomi’s smartphones will be a bit costlier in the coming time.

Xiaomi has recently launched its Mi 9 smartphone. The device has the starting price of 449 euros (roughly Rs. 36,200) for the variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage and 499 euros (roughly Rs. 40,200) for the option with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

The device comes with a 6.39-inch AMOLED screen with 1080x2340 pixel resolution. The display is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. Also, it runs on the Snapdragon 855 SoC. In line with other phone makers, Xiaomi also equipped triple rear camera setup for the device. The setup includes a 48MP Sony IMX586 shooter, a 12MP telephoto shooter, and a 16MP ultra-wide angle shooter, along with an aperture of f/2.2. The device also features a 10MP front-facing camera for taking selfies.

In addition, the company is touting the MIUI interface for improved night mode. The device also features the Quick Charge as well as Qi-certified 20W wireless quick charging technology. It can fully charge the device 37% faster than other standard wireless chargers.
