Black Shark 2 With Snapdragon 855, 12GB RAM Spotted On Geekbench

The upcoming Xiaomi gaming-centric phone, Black Shark 2, was spotted on Geekbench with a Snapdragon 855 SoC and 12GB of RAM.

The Chinese phone maker is said to release the gaming smartphone Black Shark 2 in the recent future. Xiaomi has recently confirmed that the upcoming phones from its gaming brand ‘Black Shark’ will feature the new liquid cooling tech, which is called Liquid Cool 3.0. The company already posted a promo photo on Weibo confirming the presence of the technology.

It seems like the phone is not too far from coming out. The gaming-centric Xiaomi Black Shark 2 has just been listed on the benchmarking site Geekbench once again. Previously, the handset was listed under the name ‘Blackshark Skywalker’ with a Snapdragon 855 SoC and 8GB RAM. Now, another phone listed under the model name ‘Black Shark AAA’ on the site with 12GB RAM. Besides, it is speculated to come in two more variants with 8GB and 10GB of RAM.

According to the Geekbench listing, the Black Shark 2 got scores of 3,516 points and 11,413 points in the single-core and multi-core tests. In the last listing, the 8GB of RAM model of the handset achieved scores of 3,494 points and 11,149 points in the single-core and multi-core tests. In comparison, Apple's iPhone XS Max scored 4.797 points for the single-core test and 11.208 points for the multi-score test. While the Black Shark 2 is way behind the iPhone XS Max in terms of single core performance, it is slightly better in the multi-core test. For software, the handset is listed to run the latest Android 9.0 Pie out of the box and is backed by a 4,000 mAh battery.

As it is a gaming-centric phone, it should come with Game Turbo mode that can enhance users’ gaming experience as it boosts the CPU, GPU, and network. The exact release date remains unknown. However, as Xiaomi has already officially teased the phone, it should be coming out very soon. It is still unclear if the company will release the Black Shark first, or it will launch the Black Shark 2 directly.
