The sub-Rs. 40,000 segment is not exactly a premium one, but the phones in the segment still offer a lot of advanced features and high-end specifications. There are many offerings from popular brands like Xiaomi, Honor, Vivo, Oppo, OnePlus, and HMD Global. OnePlus seems to be slightly more favored compared to other brands in the price range with its OnePlus 6T. OnePlus 6T

OnePlus has been well-known in the mid-range phone segment, not only India but also in the world. The brand is known for offering handsets with mid-range pricing and high-end specifications, design, and features. OnePlus 6T is one of the most popular devices from the brand that has been getting a lot of success in many markets.

The OnePlus 6T sports a large 6.41-inch FHD+ display AMOLED panel with a 1080 x 2340p resolution, an 19.5:9 aspect ratio and Gorilla Glass 6 protection. There is a water-drop notch on top of the display housing a selfie camera. Powering the phone is a Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of internal storage.

In the imaging department, it comes with a dual camera setup, including a 16 MP, f/1.7 primary camera and a 20MP f/1.7 secondary camera. Up front, there is a 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera. Vivo V15 Pro

The Vivo V15 Pro has a plastic unibody design, and it packs a 6.39-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED panel with a 2,340p x 1,080p resolution and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The device also features the fifth-gen on-screen fingerprint sensor, which is said to be 25% faster than the previous generation.

Powering the phone is a Snapdragon 675 SoC, coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage that is expandable via a microSD slot up to 256GB.

On the camera front, the Vivo offering packs triple cameras at the back, comprising of a 48MP primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP secondary sensor with an f/2.4 aperture, and a 5MP third sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. Under the hood, it is backed by a 3,700mAh cell with “Dual Engine” fast charging that is touted to charge the handset from 0 to 24 percent in just 15 minutes via a USB Type-C port.

Honor View 20

The Honor View 20 was the first phone to come with the hole-punch display at the time. The device sports a 6.4-inch FHD+ panel with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and an almost bezel-less design.

The phone is powered by a Kirin 980 SoC which is the same on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro flagship. It is expected to run the latest Android 9 Pie with the Magic UI 2 on top. It is backed by a 4,000mAh battery under the hood and an 18W fast charging (22.5W for other markets). As for software, it runs the latest Android 9 Pie with Magic UI 2 on top. Users can unlock the phone with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

In terms of camera, it was also among the early phones to have a 48MP camera at the back. Its dual rear camera setup includes 48 MP, f/1.8 primary sensor and a ToF camera. There is also a 25 MP f/2.0 selfie camera on the front.

The handset will be offered in two variants, including one with 6GB of RAM/128GB of storage and the other with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. They are priced at Rs. 37,999 and Rs. 45,999, respectively.

Apple iPhone 7

Even though Apple's iPhone 7 has already been launched for around 3 years, it is still a good option for its price tag. Up front, it packs a 4.7-inch IPS LCD with a 1,334 x 750p resolution. Under the hood, the phone is powered by Apple’s A10 Fusion with 2GB of RAM and 32/128/256GB of storage.

As for cameras, the phone has a single rear 12 MP, f/1.8 camera and a 7MP f/2.2 selfie camera on the front. Users can unlock the phone with a fingerprint sensor mounted on the front home button. Powering the phone is a 1,960mAh cell with no fast charging support. It runs iOS 10.0.1 at launch and it is upgradable to the latest iOS version.

The display has a Full-HD+ (2,316 x 1,080p) resolution, an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 91.2 percent, and an aspect ratio of 19.3:9. As the phone has an all-screen design on the front, it comes with a speaker system that provides sound vibration via its screen.

Under the hood, it is powered by a Snapdragon 845 SoC, coupled with 8GB of RAM, 128GB of non-expandable storage and an Adreno 630 GPU. On the imaging front, it sports an 8MP pop-up selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.0. On the rear, it comes with a dual camera setup, comprising of a 12MP primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a secondary 5MP depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. Vivo also integrates Google Lens on the camera UI and it helps users to search for objects online using the phone's cameras. Other camera features include AR Stickers, portrait, time lapse, and more.

Powering the phone is a 4,000mAh cell with support for dual-engine fast charging technology and a USB-C port. As for software, it runs the dated Android 8.1 Oreo with Vivo's FunTouch OS 4 on top. It should get an update to Android 9 Pie in the recent future.

The phone is now priced at Rs. 39,990 in India for the sole variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
