ASUS has confirmed the official launch date of its gaming-centric ROG Phone 3. The handset will make its debut in Taiwan on 22nd July at 11 p.m at the ‘Game Changer’ event. As you may know, ASUS has partnered with Chinese giant Tencent for its future smartphones, including the upcoming ROG Phone 3, which will have optimization from the Chinese company. It is also speculated to be the first smartphone to feature the Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset.
Thanks to multiple certifications, we already have a good idea of what to expect on the ROG Phone 3. The gaming-centric device will have a glass back panel with ROG logo and customizable RGB lighting. In addition, it will be a very powerful and advanced smartphone thanks to the Snapdragon 865 Plus SoC, 16GB RAM, and 144Hz display.
ASUS ROG Phone 3: Expected Specifications
The upcoming gaming-centric smartphone is said to feature a 6.59-inch AMOLED panel with FHD+ (1,080 x 2,340p) resolution and a whopping 144Hz refresh rate. It will likely get up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The handset could still have thick bezels on the front, which might be a bit outdated, but seems reasonable for a gaming smartphone. For security, it should be equipped with an under-display fingerprint sensor.
The phone should run on Android 10-based ROG UI out of the box to take care of the software side of things. For photography, we expect to see a triple camera cluster at the back and a 13MP selfie shooter on the front. The rear camera setup might include a 64MP main sensor, a wide-angle camera, and a telephoto lens. Under the hood, the phone could pack a whopping 6,000 mAh battery that will reportedly support 30W HyperCharger technology. As for design, the hands-on video of the device already gave us a good look at what the phone would look like.
What do you think about this upcoming gaming-centric smartphone from ASUS? With specs like 144Hz display, SND865 Plus, 16GB RAM, and 6,000mAh battery, the ROG Phone 3 will be a monstrous smartphone on the market. The weaknesses of the phone seem to be the front design and camera setup, which are not really the strengths of a gaming smartphone.
