The “Messages” feature of YouTube officially came to the mobile app version and then the web in August 2017. The famous video-sharing platform has recently announced that it will remove the chatting functionality in September.
This feature may not be the most convenient solution to chat Google provides to its users, but it still gains great interest due to its capability to share videos rapidly, especially on platforms for mobile phones. Besides, it is able to support both group and individual conversations. The most recent time Google released the major update for it was on May 2018. At that time, the web version of YouTube Messages just appeared in the market.
However, the tech giant doesn’t seem to satisfy what it has done. As proof, Google is planning to kill it. The source from a support page of YouTube stated that its messaging function would officially stop operation after 18th September.
As of now, YouTube has not yet revealed much about its plan to stop the feature. According to its latest announcement, the company is aiming to boost the comments section of the video-sharing site.
On its official page, Google writes
In other words, users can hope that more moderation tools and features with better performance will be available on YouTube’s comments in the upcoming time.
In addition, users can still share videos directly from the YouTube site when choosing the “social network icon.” Tasks will be even much easier if you are sitting next to a computer because you just need to copy and paste links into any messaging app.
