The “Make in India” movement has given rise to a wave of apps made by Indian developers. So far, we have had FAU-G, an alternative game to PUBG Mobile, Mitron – India’s take on TikTok, and now, another app has just surfaced to compete with Twitter in the Indian market.

Tooter, the app in question, has been on air since July this year. It works similarly to Twitter: the app allows users to sign up for accounts and follow other people. However, instead of posting tweets, users will create “Toots.” For now, Tooter is only available for Android mobile users but there is also a web app for everyone.

If you visit the “about page,” you will see the following message:

The site also has a paid service called Tooter Pro with a subscription fee of Rs 1,000 a year. However, at this point, it’s unclear what benefits users will get with the Pro tier.

The site has had the participation of many big names in India, including PM Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Home Minister Amit Shah.

It’s possible that Tooter might source its content directly from Twitter as these high-profile accounts have the same posts as on Twitter and they only follow Tooter’s CEO.

When users create a new account, they will automatically follow the site’s CEO, News bot, and RVAIDYA 2000.

Tooter looks a lot like Twitter with the blue and white color scheme.
