Zhu said that they were inspired by people in cities and towns all over the globe whose humanity showed when we needed it the most, including those who delivered essentials like food and medicine to others who could not leave their homes, and those who showed empathy to people who had lost their loved ones to the disease.

TikTok said that the fund it donated would help WHO with vital works like delivering supplies to health officials working at the frontline, providing credible information to the public, as well as accelerating research for a vaccine or a treatment.

Zhu wrote in a blog post that people should only believe the information announced by the local government to stop the virus from spreading. He also said that if people were advised to stay in one place to avoid gathering, they should heed that order.

The president of TikTok also urged people to maintain proper hygiene and help others in the ways they can so that healthcare workers can focus their effort on those who had fallen ill of the disease.
