The Model 3, one of the prominent electric cars from Tesla, has always got good reviews from its consumers. However, some issues have been reported, showing that the car model still has a lot of shortcomings.
According to a “reliability data” gathered from a survey in 2018, a nonprofit organization called Consumer Reports claimed to put Tesla’s product out of its recommendation list.
Tesla fans may not feel surprised because the Model 3 has had a history to experience some similar situations before. Last year, due to an error concerning the braking distance, it lost a position as a “recommended” product in the Consumer Reports list. Everything just changed after Elon Musk’s company rolled out the over-the-air (or OTA) update to fix the error in May 2018.
In addition to the Model 3, a lot of other renowned automobile models have ever lost the “recommended” rating conducted by Consumer Reports, including Dodge Charger, BMW 5 Series, Acura RDX, Volkswagen Tiguan, and the Cadillac 300.
Considering the existing issues on the Model 3, they were explained to hail from “problems with paint, trim, and electronics.”
When conducting a 2018 survey to evaluate the satisfaction from 470,000 owners, Consumer Reports realized that most of the complaints were about some cracks in windows, insecure body trim, and malfunctioning and freezing screens.
The organization has shown suspicion about long-term reliability and quality testing offered by Tesla. Besides, the latest update also pointed out some previous issues the company’s products had coped with, such as the suspension issues in the 2017 models of the Model S lineup or hardware problem in relation to falcon-wing doors of the Model X SUV.
Even when the Model 3 is full of issues, no one can deny its attraction. As per Consumer Reports, the Model 3 still holds a position as “the most satisfying car,” and especially, the organization’s rating system couldn’t evaluate the 2015 Model S because the model was extremely outstanding and beyond all expectations.
