Sheryl Sandberg, the COO of Facebook, recently said her company is trying to do necessary works to protect both user privacy and political elections. The message was delivered in an interview between Sheryl and CNBC as well as CBS on Friday.
Talking about the plan, Sandberg told that gaining back trust from users will be not easy, but she along with her company's director board is willing to do “whatever it takes” to ensure the safety of users on their platform.
As per EU Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager’s speech, breaking up Facebook would be “a remedy of the last resort”.
According to CNBC, Facebook COO acknowledged that users are deeply concerned about their privacy. However, she noted that every Facebook employees and engineers now have focus the product on protecting users' privacy.
Several social network platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter have been under pressure with many critics of not working enough to fight with misinformation contents and hate speeches, especially ahead of elections. There are also many arguments heading to their enormous powers, which have to be restrained.
Ahead of the upcoming elections, Sandberg claimed that Facebook is ready for 2020. Last month, the social networking giant continued seeing a revenue growth to more than $15bn for the first quarter of 2019.
