Netflix Is Testing A Shuffle Function That Saves You From Having To Find What To Watch Next

Netflix has acknowledged the experience of shuffling well-known episodes for series appeals to viewers that would rather watch a random episode.

Many platforms are now lacking a shuffle function, which means users are often stuck with one season and beginning from the top of the recommendations for the next thing to watch.

It looks like Netflix has acknowledged the experience of shuffling well-known episodes for series appeals to viewers that would rather watch a random episode than searching for a new series or film. And the company is experimenting with the addition of a shuffle function, but the function has been spotted by Android Police in a new overflow menu on the Netflix home screen, under the Continue Watching section.

Besides the shuffle function, Android Police also shared a screenshot showing the menu with a few other functions for playback too, which include a button for searching for similar content, one for getting info on the content, and another for removing the content from Continue Watching.

The company confirmed that it is testing the function, noting that these types of experiments are being run in various countries, for different time periods, and they will only be official if people think they’re useful.

In April, Netflix started its test on a carousel called “Play a Popular Episode” on the home display in its app for Android users. The test was also confirmed by the company, but like other tests, the feature may not be launched. However, testing the shuffle function means, at the least, that Netflix has the idea of giving users what they’re asking for.

On the other hand, Disney+ has also shown its response to user demands. The giant has corrected some playback troubles after its rocky launch in November, including the addition of Continue Watching and Resume, a function to pick up where users left off on a particular episode.
