iOS 14.2 is out and it’s a big update both in features and size.
It features over 100 new emojis and MagSafe support for iPhone 12 lineup. The update clocks at 1.1GB, meaning you had better connect your phone to a Wi-Fi network, or if it’s available to you, 5G. Otherwise, you easily go past your data cap.
The emojis are what many users have been waiting for. Among more than 100 emojis, we have new objects, like a magic wand, a step ladder, a transgender flag, and many new animals like the dodo or the bison.
The update comes with eight wallpapers and all of which have dark and light mode versions. But Apple offers more than just the change in appearance this time. Users now have AirPlay controls and warnings when you have increased the volume to an extent that can damage your hearing.
Support for HomePod and its mini version is also added for users of CarPlay, AirPods, iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches.
HomePod can also be connected to Apple TV 4K for surround sound, stereo, as well as Dolby Atmos audio.
The software now supports iPhone 12 Leather Sleeve and MagSafe. LiDAR sensor on iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max can detect people in the vicinity and now iOS 14.2 allows users to know how far away these people are.
The update prevents AirPods’ battery from aging too fast and comes with a number of patches. Some of them are black camera viewfinder and missed keyboard touches when some users typing in the passcode.
Other fixes are for Apple Cash not working properly with Siri voice command and Netflix black screen.
iOS 14.2 arrives just before users can pre-order iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max, which is scheduled on November 6. The phones will then be delivered the following Friday.
