We’re used to listening to Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri and get directions while driving on the streets. However, the voice of these digital assistants is set by default, meaning that we have no chance to really “personalize” the robotic-yet-unpleasant voices that will guide us during the journey. To people’s surprise, a US-based company recently introduced a voice cloning solution to get along with our own voice instead of said voice assistants.
The solution mentioned above come from an app called “My Car, My Love.” The software is developed by Cerence, and reportedly is available on a number of vehicles like Chrysler, GM, Toyota, Audi, and BMW. This actually is an inbuilt tool of the company’s software. According to Cerence, drivers can make use of the software to make a voice that mimics their own voices or even others’.
With the help of this feature, drivers will get a more human experience when using the map service on their cars, as per the company’s announcement. Cerence CEO Sanjay Dhawan stated that the app will significantly level up the users’ experience as bringing this innovation to customers is nothing but happiness to the company.
In particular, drivers have to let the app record a series of voices by speaking to it. Subsequently, the app will customize the voice then create a voice clone to read the text aloud.
Cerence, in fact, takes advantage of advanced deep neural nets and cutting-edge text-to-speech technologies to create a clone voice library. As reported, this technology has approached about 60 automakers and been in active service on 300 million vehicles across the globe.
