Here's How Siri, Google Assistant And Alexa Talk About COVID-19

Have you ever asked your own voice assistant about the COVID-19?

As the number of patients and death toll caused by the fast-spreading COVID-19 virus keeps rising, both governments and tech giants are putting effort into delivering transparent, accurate information about the fatal pandemic. This is necessary because many badasses out there started making use of the health-care crisis to scam others. Have you ever asked your own voice assistant about the COVID-19?

In a recent test, Amazon’s Alexa was asked with a series of questions about the disease. When it comes to how to get tested for the coronavirus, Alexa cited information from the website of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) such as the nearest healthcare facilities, contacts and the availability of COVID-19 tests. Ironically, it just listed out the symptoms of the illness when being asked about whether or not people should buy medical masks.

Additionally, Alexa already has apps that tell users the latest number of coronavirus-infected cases as well as how to clean hands effectively.

Siri meanwhile sent a batch of websites from WHO or CDC to users. On the other hand, Google Assistant directed users towards the latest news and articles about the pandemic. However, the search giant is taking a more aggressive approach and limiting coronavirus-related actions that users can submit for the Google Assistant.

In fact, popular platforms like Microsoft and Google have already rolled out different tools to support people while the Indian government also launches a chatbot on WhatsApp to address misinformation and fake news.
