To date, there's not any official confirmation that the US Commerce Department has given Huawei over the issue related to the Android OS. Without a green light, the Google-owned operating system is yet to be ready on its upcoming smartphone lineups, according to Reuters.
Tim Danks - Huawei VP of risk management and partner relations said to Reuters that his company acknowledges the current situation, adding that it'll wait for guidance from the U.S authorities.
Last month, the Chinese giant was barred from picking up American-made electronics components and software without a license. The US Commerce Department has released the ban after the US government considered it as a security threat over the country. As a result, Huawei's upcoming phones will not legally accessible to Google's Android. If there's no confirmation from the US authorities, Huawei is still unaware of whether its products can come with Android or not.
Last week, the US President Donald Trump had also mentioned those concerns at the G20 Summit as saying that American firms would sell such elements to the Chinese tech giant again. Not that this came after the meeting between him and Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, which was highly anticipated before.
Talking about the ban, the company founder Ren Zhengfei claimed that recent decisions of the US government do not negatively affect its worldwide business too much. An interview between Ren and the Financial Times revealed that Ren welcomed President Trump's decision to ease the ban on Huawei, however, he also downplayed its significance.
