The Unified Payments Interface system, as known as UPI, has risen to popularity as most of the real-time payment systems are applying it into their platforms. For Android users, there must be good news: Google's Play Store has already been integrated with UPI to help you find more easily when making digital payments within the store. Thanks to the technology, payments can be made directly from a user’s bank account for his/her purchase, including a wide variety of content such as games, apps, books, movies, and so on.

August 2017 was marked as the very first time Indian government deploys UPI payments mode across the country. As reported by Google, the number of transactions is now 50 times greater than which it was in 2017. Notably, in August 2019 alone, the number exceeded 900 million of UPI-based payment, jumping a 2.8 percent of the growth in comparison with June 2019 (roughly 755 million transactions). All the data are thankfully given from the NPCI – National Payments Corp of India.

At the time, current payment methods in the Play Store include net-banking, debit card, credit card, carrier payments, etc. However, none of them is simpler than UPI-based payment, which allows users to directly transfer any fee from any certified bank account. To have this service available, users will have to make sure that a UPI ID has already been added to the Google Play Store.
Google understand this rule: The more simplicity that a method brings, the more payment people will make. This new move is expected to help them gain more from Indian users, who mostly hesitate to pay for apps due to inconvenient payments.
In next weeks, Google will launch this new option towards its Play Store. If successful, upcoming UPI-based transactions will significantly benefit both Google and Indian users as well.
