After searching for a term such as "green dress" or "black lamp" on Google Images, users can receive hundreds of pictures and it may be difficult for them to narrow the results down for better selection. But now, after selecting an image, a side panel with the image will stay on a page right beside the search results. As users scroll, the image will remain there, letting users compare it with other images of the same product.

There are also some other changes to Google Images included in the update, helping shoppers to reach better decisions. In case users choose an image tagged as an item, they will also see details like price, availability, reviews, and brand. Moreover, they will get more information about the source website of the image.

This year, Google has made a lot of changes to target shoppers better. Recently, the search giant unveiled the completely re-designed platform of Google Shopping. At the beginning of 2019, Google started to test shoppable advertisements in YouTube videos as well as photo search results. In addition, the company is letting users make direct purchases on Assistant and Search and other properties.

Online buyers often have difficulties in making decisions, therefore, it is understandable that Google is trying to help. If users can know more about merchants, compare products’ images and read reviews, they can narrow their choices down. Seeing how look-alike products compared against one another at a traditional store is easy enough for users. The new interface of Google Images can help to replicate this kind of experience online.
