Now, Google Go, the lite version of the Google app, will be available worldwide, according to the company’s statement on Tuesday. The app, weighing only 7 MB, is a far smaller version of the main Google app. Notably, the app brings about lite versions of several new features such as Lens as well as an out-loud page-reader.

In a blog post, Bibo Xu, Product Manager of Google Go, wrote that at the I/O event earlier this year, the tech giant revealed Lens in Google Go, which offers users a way of reading, translating, and searching the words they see using their phone camera. If they want to search a text, they can just launch Lens, point the camera at it and the app will read it out loud or translate it, or both.
The tech giant has designed this app for those who are stuck with unreliable Internet connections as well as people that want to spare more storage on their handset devices. Initially, the app was launched under the name Android Go dated back 2017, which was paired with a number of other lite apps specifically developed for users in developing countries.

It’s worth noting that Google Go additionally offers a read-aloud feature powered by artificial intelligence which allows users to listen to whatever web page they want, according to Xu.
For those who want to try out this app, you can find and download it from the Google Play Store.
