On Tuesday, Apple made public a warning urging users of iPhones and iPads to update their devices immediately to the latest versions of iPadOS and iOS.

According to a support page of Apple, the update is to fix three security flaws that have been exploited. The iPhone maker cites an anonymous researcher as the person behind the revelation of the bugs.

Among the three vulnerabilities, one allows hackers to access elevated privileges in the OS’s framework – Kernel. Apple said that the issues had been fixed in its latest update.

The other two are bugs in Safari’s web browser engine called WebKit. They may allow attackers to launch an arbitrary code execution. The update also fixes these problems with improved restrictions.

The three bugs impact iPad Air 2, iPhone 6s, iPad mini 4, and their subsequent generations.

However, no information regarding the number of victims or if the attackers are targeting a specific group of users has been revealed.

Apple’s spokesperson refused to comment further on the matter and it said additional information would be made public as more details become available.

Getting the latest update is simple. In Settings, tap on General and then Software Update.
