Not long ago, Apple did launch its iPhone 11 lineup with numerous new features in tow, but the latest flagship also came with some small privacy issues. Thankfully, owners of these devices or those who’re about to buy an iPhone 11 shouldn’t be worried as the company’s already worked on an update to address one of these issues.
To be specific, users will be able to disable the controversial Ultra Wideband features via a new toggle in the settings menu. Just right after the initial launch of the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro, many users complained about these iPhones due to it periodically tracking their location, even if they’ve turned off the location features on every app. However, this seemed to be in compliance with regulations regarding the Ultra Wideband feature.
The new toggle was first spotted in the newest beta version of iOS 13.3.1. According to some testers, it will completely turn off the availability of Ultra Wideband chip inside the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro. In case you hadn’t known yet, the chip is responsible for precise positional tracking, especially for lost possessions of things like AirDrop.
Apple reportedly tracked locations to leverage the use of this chip most of the time because there’re several different regulations in specific regions. Also, the company explained that everything only happened on the user’s iPhone, so data won’t be compromised, theoretically. There’s no official announcement about the launch of Ultra Wideband toggle, but it’s evident that it will come soon after the beta test.
