Apple iPhones’ next generation will be introduced at a special event the company is going to hold in September. The US tech giant, of course, will upgrade the previous iPhones lineup; on the other hand, a cheaper model is likely to be integrated with an in-display fingerprint sensor. This new product aims at the Chinese market, says a report.
As stated by China’s Global Times, this cheaper model could remove Face ID; instead, it uses an in-display fingerprint sensor for Touch ID, claimed some sources. These rumors appear within the industry supply chain which mentions that the cheaper version will be just for China. Moreover, it is apparent that Apple will save on the cost by removing the feature of Face ID. The number of money is said to up to hundreds of yuan (Chinese currency).
China’s Global Times also gives a reason for the rumor about Apple’s cheaper variant. It was said that this move showed the company’s urgency to deal with the declining sales in the Chinese market. This decrease is understandable as the US tech giant is under pressure from the trade war between the US and China.
It is not weird for Apple to make an exclusive version of the iPhone for the Chinese market. Previously, the US tech giant launched an iPhone model with dual-SIM for iPhone users in this region. Under the circumstance of Apple’s decreasing sales in the Chinese market, it is necessary to deploy exclusive models for China to tailor local users’ needs.
Nonetheless, it is not likely for this rumor to become real, according to Apple Insider. Although it is reasonable, people should understand that this news can be untrue. We will try to provide you more information about this in the coming time.
