According to Bloomberg, Apple will open its online store in India next month, citing a source with insight into the matter.
For now, the iPhone maker is selling its products through e-commerce platforms including Flipkart and Amazon, as well as some third-party vendors.
The new online store will be opened just in time for the festive season in India when the country’s citizens are in the mood to splurge. Apple hasn’t made any comments regarding this revelation.
Earlier this year, Tim Cook, the company’s CEO did hint about the launch of this online store, with a bricks-and-mortar store opened in 2021.
India is the market no phone makers want to ignore. With over one billion wireless subscribers and about a third own only basic phones, the country has massive prospects of growth and lots of cheap labor to manufacture devices.
Apple has already had some of its iPhone models, like iPhone 11 and iPhone SE, assembled in Indian facilities.
