Apple May Release A 16-Inch MacBook Pro And Here's What We Know

Rumors say that Apple may release a new premium laptop, a 16-inch MacBook Pro, featuring a large screen sometime in 2019.

The first rumors around an exceptionally large MacBook Pro first surfaced in February. According to analyst Ming Chi-Kuo, Apple may release a new premium laptop featuring a large screen later in 2019.

What that means is that the company may be working on a 16-inch Macbook Pro, which is odd, but not totally impossible, considering his prediction used to turn out true with three new iPhones, a new iPad Mini, a new iPad, and a 31-inch 6K monitor this year.

And here are the four most interesting, credible rumors around the upcoming 16-inch MacBook Pro.

Apple will soon introduce a new MacBook Pro

There have been rumors from many sources about a redesigned Macbook Pro but the timing is unclear. An initial report from Kuo gave a broad timeframe, 2019. In May, we learned that this project was delayed until next year or 2021, or even canceled. However, it turned out that rumor was because Kuo’s previous report was inaccurately translated.

Then in August, new rumors said that the new laptop would not only come but also soon, probably October. And according to Forbes and DigiTimes, the announcement may happen next week. If this is true, we should expect a press release for the new device since there hasn’t been any information about any event.

The new MacBook Pro may have a 16-inch screen along with narrow bezels

Apple has been said to figure out a way to embed a bigger display in the same 15-inch size, which means the bezels will get smaller. On the other hand, MacRumors reported earlier this month that an icon of a laptop featuring slim bezels and a “16” were spotted in macOS Catalina beta code by the MacGeneration blog.

Despite rumors about an OLED display for Apple’s upcoming devices, there hasn’t been authoritative sourcing to confirm this for the next MacBook Pro laptop.

The new MacBook Pro may have a scissor-style keyboard

It’s expected that Apple will ditch its butterfly keyboard with the Macbook Pro. This prediction first came from Kuo, which acknowledges a conclusion made years ago about Apple’s butterfly keyboard that it’s a failure. The tech giant came up with this keyboard to make its laptops thinner and lighter but there were complaints about sticky keys which type in duplicate or nothing at all.

The new MacBook Pro will be powered by an Intel chip

Ay WWDC 2019, Apple said that its MacBook Pro will be upgraded to the 8th and 9th-gen Intel Core processors, which include an octa-core version. Forbes reported that the upcoming 16-inch MacBook Pro will pack in Intel chip that meets the Coffee Lake H Refresh standard.

If this turns out true, the device will likely be among the last Apple-made computers to house Intel chips. Rumors have long said that Apple will switch to custom Arm-based chips, which will make it easier for developers to create apps that can work on Apple’s multiple operating systems for the Mac, iPad, and iPhone.
