Apple May Reveal The Location For Its First Store In India This Month

Apple has been trying for some time but this year, it has finally met the local sourcing requirements

Apple has had so much trouble with opening its first retail store in India that when the information of the company choosing a handful of potential locations makes the news.

According to Bloomberg, Apple retail store will probably be in Mumbai. The company wants it to be on the same level of grandeur with that on Fifth Avenue in New York. Obviously, the exact location should be in somewhere upscale.

In the next few weeks, that venue will be revealed, but we may have to wait to 2020 to see that store opens its door for customers.

Apple’s plan for the first store in India has met with quite a lot of obstacles, mainly because it could not meet local sourcing requirements. The company applied for approval in 2016, but it did not get clearance then because according to the law, any company having over 51% of foreign investment must produce one-third of their total products in India.

The game changer here is its announcement in April, which said that it would produce iPhones in India in collaboration with Foxconn. Before this decision, most of its handheld products are made in China, so now, it seems like Apple is shifting its focus to India. This also means that Apple has fulfilled the requirements of the local laws and now we have five stores to expect.

The company is having Wistron making older generations of iPhones in Bengaluru as well as iPhone 7 also manufactured in India. With this new partnership, Apple will bring the producing process of newer models to the country too.
