The Apple Watch can bombard you with all kinds of sounds every day, from the one for notifications to alarms. If you want to silence it, there are three modes you can make use of, the theater mode, the Do Not Disturb mode, and the silent mode. They have differences, but you can activate all of them from one single screen.
The three modes can be accessed from the Control Center of the watch, which you will see when swiping up from any screen. To locate the icons you want, either rotate the crown or flick the screen up or down.
The “Silent mode” will mute all beep and chime, but the Apple Watch will still vibrate. It has no effect on other functions, and you can turn it on or off by tapping on the bell icon.
The “Theater mode” works just like the Silent, but it will turn the display off too until you press a button or tap on the screen. The watch will not light up nor ping. To activate or deactivate the mode, tap on the tragedy/comedy icon.
The “Do Not Disturb” is the one you want if you do not even want the Apple Watch to vibrate. The screen will not light up when notifications arrive either. However, it still lets vital functions through like alerts on your heart rates or alarms. Tapping the crescent moon icon to activate or deactivate the mode.
If you want to have the “Do Not Disturb” mode on both your phone and your watch, you can do so too.
- On your iPhone, access the app for Apple Watch and choose General.
- Select “Do Not Disturb.”
- Turn on “Mirror iPhone.”
You have a few choices when it comes to how long the mode stays in effect until you leave the current area until the evening, or for just an hour. If you have an event on the calendar, you can also set the mode to be deactivated until the event ends.
