For quite a while now, Apple has been releasing Product Red devices, from the Beast Product Read Headphones, Product Red iPod, to Product Red Apple Watches and iPhones.
For those who don’t dow, these Product Red devices do not just look good because of their bright scarlet-crimson color, but a certain percentage of the sales from the devices are donated to the “Red” non-profit to help combat HIV/AIDS in some regions. This association has started in 2006.
But this year, on “Giving Tuesday,” Apple has announced that the company would redirect Product Red’s eligible profit to the COVID-19 team of the Global Fund.
And this will continue until June 2021. In addition, till December 7, for every purchase made either at a physical Apple Store, on Apple’s website, the App Store, or with Apple Pay, Apple will extract $1 for this cause.
Tim Cook, the Apple CEO, posted this announcement on his official Twitter account. The proceeds will provide South Africa with better equipment for contact tracing. So, if you are considering getting a new Apple product and don’t know which color to go with, why not choosing a Red one as you will also be helping the communities at least.
