In 2017, Apple launched the iPhone X, the first iPhone to feature an OLED screen instead of a traditional LCD screen. OLED displays have more advantages over LCD panels such as lower battery consumption, thinner, higher contrast, more realistic colors, and faster response speeds. In addition, the characteristics of the OLED screen also help manufacturers to narrow the bezel.

Until last year, all iPhone 11 models were equipped with OLED screens, except for the iPhone XR with an LCD panel. Although the OLED screen has many outstanding advantages, it also has disadvantages such as screen burns or flickers.

So iFixit has launched an LCD replacement pack for iPhone X, Xs, and Xs Max and it is significantly cheaper than an OLED screen.
The LCD screens for iFixit's iPhone X, Xs, and Xs Max are priced at $ 74.99 (around Rs. 5,500), $ 84.99 (around Rs. 6,200), and $164.99 (around Rs. 12,100) respectively. Meanwhile, the price to replace Apple's OLED screen is up to $279 - 329 (from around Rs. 20,400 to Rs. 24,100).
“We’re now offering an LCD screen option for the iPhone X, XS, and XS Max. These LCDs (and their Fix Kits) are less than half the price of the OLED models we sell”. iFixit said in a statement. They also inform that the LCD panel will be slightly dark as well as have a slightly lower resolution and a bit worse colour contrast ratio compared to the OLED panel.
Perhaps this would be an alternative for those on a tight budget, or for those who dislike OLED screens. However, it is also worth noting that some features may not work with LCD screens, such as the original color function feature that automatically adjusts the screen's brightness and color to suit the environment.
iPhone X price: around Rs. 63,000
