Apple finally releases the iPhone XR made in India in the country as the devices with the tag ‘Assembled in India’ have been spotted on several electronics retailers. This news emerges when Apple is planning to get more mark share in India, which is the second biggest phone market in the world. Foxconn is still responsible for assembling the iPhone XR for Apple, but this time it is doing that in its factory in India. That would help Apple to avoid import taxes, which leads to lower prices for its iPhones in India.
Apple is offering the Assembled-in-India iPhone XR at Rs. 49,900 for the variant with 64GB of storage, though users can grab one for Rs. 39,990 in festive season sales. Moreover, the brand also lowers the price of its iPhone XR in the country to boost its sales figures and compete against its rivals OnePlus and Samsung. Not just that, it also helps the company avoid the impact of the trade war between the US and China.
iPhone XR: Specs & Features
The iPhone XR was first announced in 2018 alongside the more premium iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. The device comes with a 6.1” LCD Liquid Retina panel with 1,792 x 828p resolution. Powering the phone is Apple’s A12 Bionic chipset with 3GB of RAM and 64/128/256GB of storage. Software-wise, it boots iOS 13 out of the box to take care of the software side of things. The device is IP67 certified for water and dust resistance.
For photography, it comes with a single 12MP wide-angle shooter at the back with f/1.8 aperture and a 7MP shooter on the front for selfies and video chats. For security, it doesn’t have a fingerprint reader, so users only have Face ID for biometric security. The setup is fueled by a 2,942mAh battery that can be charged with 15W wired charging solution or Qi Wireless charging tech.
