Chinese company Xiaomi has just posted a teaser suggesting that they will introduce a new phone series in its home country China. The teaser is posted on Weibo with a selfie of an 8-year-old Gavin Thomas who is immensely popular on the Internet. With the poster, we can conclude that the upcoming series will include selfie-centric offerings. Now, the company doesn’t mention the exact name of the new smartphone, but we believe it could be the new Xiaomi Meitu phone that surfaced online yesterday.
The main reason we believe it will be a selfie-centric series because Xiaomi’s official account asked its followers to make a guess about the upcoming smartphone and the Meitu’s official account shared the post saying “ask me”. That should be one of the clearest hints I have ever seen. According to a recent teaser, the Meitu phone will be one of the very few phones with a flip camera module that we have seen on the Asus 6Z (or also known as Asus ZenFone 6). However, instead of having dual cameras, the Meitu handset will be equipped with a triple camera setup which makes it much more interesting. To recall, Xiaomi has already taken over Meitu which is a selfie-centric brand, earlier in the year.
Apart from the Xiaomi Meitu, the company is also said to be working on another phone called Xiaomi CC9. It is tipped to come with a 6.39-inch Full-HD+ panel and a mid-range Snapdragon octa-core processor, coupled with 8GB of RAM. In terms of camera, it will likely come with triple cameras on the rear, with the primary sensor having 48MP resolution, which is becoming more common for a Xiaomi phone these days. There will also be a 32MP selfie camera on the front. Fueling the entire setup is a large 4,000 mAh battery.
That is all we have known about the phone as it has just made its first appearance yesterday. We will keep you updated with the latest information when Xiaomi announces the series tomorrow.
